Yesterday I registered for the Boston Marathon, so I guess it’s official now. I had a good summer but I’m not going to really focus on the 52.4 miler until January. I already have some great ideas for races and training runs that I want to do when the time comes and I’m excited to get started. Between now and then I’m going to keep working on my speed and try to get a good half marathon and maybe marathon by December.
I just came off a fantastic Blue Ridge Relay where (despite several wrong turns) my Knoxville Track Club team put up a fight against the Charlotte Running Club and Asheville Running Collective for the entire 208 mile course. We lost to Charlotte but still finished under the old course record and I ran the fastest time ever on one of the hardest legs of the race (Leg 31, the Mountain Goat). So I’m feeling good coming off a hot, sticky summer.
As far as fundraising goes, as of my registration for the marathon I have $834.80 pledged, plus $4.25 for every minute I can run under 7 hours for the Double Boston. That’s more than I thought I’d have seven months before the marathon so I’m very thankful for everybody who has pledged already. Hopefully I can attain many more pledges as I get closer to the race but I think it’s a good start.
As always, you can read more about the Be Strong Stay Strong Fund here and you can pledge money for my Double Boston here. I won’t be collecting money until after the race on April 21 so you have plenty of time to save up! Any amount is appreciated.
